Welcome to Taylorstown Cross Community PreSchool

Taylorstown Cross Community Playgroup was established in 1983 by Mrs Ann Dixon and Mrs Anne Arrell. It was important to them that the whole community would benefit from the setting up of a playgroup. The plagroup started out in the Grange Baptist Church Hall known as the B Hut (B Specials). At the beginning the playgroup opened with 5 children on roll. The playgroup stayed in the B Hut until 1992 when they moved to Taylorstown North School. During this time they celebrated their 10th anniversary in 1993.

In 1996 Taylorstown Cross Community Playgroup was awarded a ‘Certificate of Accreditation’ from NIPPA and they were the first of the playgroups to hold this accreditation. The playgroup stayed at Taylorstown North School until 1998 when the rent became too high and they moved to the Church of Ireland hall at the Pound. At this stage funding was applied for through EU Peace funding and through some hard work and dedication from staff and Management Committee, some land was purchased and our current purpose built building was opened in 2000 by Mrs Ann Dixon.

We recently celebrated our 25th anniversary and now have 50 children on roll and we are constantly developing our provision for pre-school children.

The playgroup is run by an excellent team of dedicated staff who not only provide a wonderful environment for the children to learn and develop but also work alongside our parent-led committee. We welcome all parents to get involved with the playgroup, whether that mean joining our committee to help with fundraising and the general running of the group, or even just coming in for an hour to talk to the children about your job.

We believe that choosing the right pre-school for your child plays a fundamental part in the start of a wonderful journey for your childs development and preparation for the future. Our goal here is to give you a feel of what we do, not only to help you make an informed choice with regards to their education but also to help you feel confident and happy that your child is in a warm, friendly and safe environment. After all, we realise that this is often a big step for the parents as well as for the child.
